Brooklynn and Logan’s estate wedding was a little different for me because by the time we got to Idaho, it didn’t really feel like I was meeting two people for their wedding day. It felt like a sweet reunion. Brooklynn originally found me on TikTok and had been following my work for a while. We ended up planning a session together, and two weeks later Logan sent me a message saying he was getting ready to propose.
A few weeks later, I was on a plane to Sedona. So before I ever photographed their wedding, I’d already watched one of the biggest moments of their relationship unfold! By the time I arrived in Idaho for the rehearsal dinner, I already knew their families, knew the story that had brought us there, and knew this weekend was going to feel different than most. I think that’s one of my favorite parts of this job.
Sometimes I get to show up for eight hours, photograph a beautiful wedding, and send people home with memories they’ll have forever. And sometimes I get invited into a story much earlier. This was one of those times. By the time Brooklynn walked down the aisle on her family’s property along the Boise River, I didn’t feel like someone they’d hired to take photos. I just felt really lucky to be there.

Spending the whole weekend with Brooklynn and Logan reminded me why I love destination weddings so much. It’s not really about getting on a plane or photographing somewhere new. Those parts are fun, of course. But they’re not the reason I’d do it over and over again. It’s the extra time. When I’m there from the rehearsal dinner all the way through the reception, I stop feeling like someone who’s documenting a single day. I get to see the stories leading up to it, too.
By the time the wedding morning arrives, I already know everyone’s names. I know which friends have been around since high school, which family members flew across the country, who’s probably going to cry during the ceremony (me), and who will be the first one to pull everyone onto the dance floor. The photos end up feeling different because I experience the weekend differently. And I think Brooklynn and Logan’s family estate wedding is such a good example of that.

Getting married on family land along the Boise River changed the rhythm of the whole weekend. People weren’t arriving at a venue they’d never seen before. They were welcoming everyone into a place that already meant something to them. You could feel it. Kids wandered down to the river. Family members knew exactly where to find an extra chair or another dessert plate. People settled in instead of rushing from one event to the next.
Nothing about it felt manufactured, it just felt like home. And if I’m being honest, those are the weddings I connect with most. The ones that care more about bringing everyone together than putting on a perfect production. The ones where the setting already holds memories before the wedding day even begins. And especially the ones where trust matters more than perfection. Those are the weekends I leave feeling incredibly grateful I got to be part of them.

“Oh my gosh stopppp. We are literally OBSESSED. I have already looked through them so many times and cry EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! You captured us, our families, and the whole day so perfectly and naturally. Truly beyond anything we could have imagined. Your message means the absolute world to us. We adore you and are SO thankful for you. You made us feel so comfortable and loved the entire day. We are so grateful for the way you poured your heart into every single moment and it shows in every photo. Thank you for loving us so well and for capturing our day in the most beautiful, genuine way. We seriously cannot stop talking about them and cannot wait to see the rest!!!”

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels less like a production and more like a gathering of the people you love most, I think we’d probably get along. Whether that looks like a weekend spent on family land, a destination somewhere new, or a place that already holds years of memories, I want to be there for the moments that make it yours. The conversations before the ceremony. The people who show up for you. The little things you won’t realize mattered until years later.
I don’t think the best wedding photos come from creating a perfect day. I think they come from creating a day that feels like you. And if you’re looking for someone who will step into that with you—not just show up with a camera—I’d love to hear your story. Get to know me here, and let’s connect!
(P.S. I offer wedding content creation, because preserving the in-between moments matters just as much as the big ones. Get an inside glimpse here.)
